Class Survey Comments

Hi everyone,

As promised here is a summary of the comments from the May 8th survey. Although a number of you indicated that you were not yet sure of your concerns, there were a number of themes that emerged from the comments.

Please note that the suggestions for social events have been forwarded to the year two social reps.

Clerkship:
-concern about the subjective grading component
-organize a mock clerkship day (where 2nd years are clerks for a day) to better gauge what to expect in clerkship
-unsure of organization of rotations (e.g. will a car be needed)
-address lack of study time for LMCC
-PDA sale

CaRMS
-organize talks from residency directors to better prepare us for the process
-concern about the timing of electives relative to CaRMS

H/P/F system
-status of Dave and Josh’s initiative to change preclerkship grading policy
-how will 2nd year class presidents address this issue

Class Time
-complaints about the amount of talking during class and people coming in late
-increase internet resources for classes (e.g. putting other lectures online)
-re-orientation day to meet people we haven’t met yet (we have a big class)
-break monotony of classes and try to make each day more enjoyable

MAA lounge and Discovery Commons
-add a second microwave and hot water (for coffee and tea) to the lounge
-delivery of Toronto Star to MSB similar to what is done in other areas of the campus
-increase hours of operation for Discovery Commons (should be open past 6pm on weekdays and on weekends)

Observership
-increase the visibility of observership opportunities

Other
-organize first aid class for entire class or at least 1T2’s
-locker safety
-access to study space in other academies
-USMLE and US training information
